If that power is going to the battery bank, they will be quickly overcharged. It is possible there is another 12VDC load consuming power.

he has (2) batteries in parallel thats 17.5 amps per battery
that is not excessive,
and he stated that the next morning A/C amps down to 1-amp or less
to me.. that means the batteries were charging
and now they are charged and converter is at idle
the real question is why they needed that much charging
if plugged in and charged for days before leaving on the trip
and three hours of driving to keep them topped up
why did they need that much power at when he arrived at the campsite ?
and again at home in the drive way ?
is there a battery drain ... somewhere ?
or are his New batteries going Bad ?
