Trailair 18K Maintenance

Just picked up a new trailer with a 18K Trailair pin box. There are 3 grease fittings on each side of the unit just above the skid plate. Anyone have or know of a maintenance manual for this type of pin box?
  • That's the Tri-Glide model, which has proven unreliable. Mine failed as have others. Two of the three rollers had failed welds - I came close to losing my trailer. The Tri-Glide has been removed from production. There are three more grease fittings inside the hitch accessible from the backside. And, no, there is no manual of any sort.

If your hitch bangs when you start and stop it's failed. If your hitch looks like this (this one is mine), then it has failed. Mine was replaced with just the Trailair minus the Tri-Glide (under warranty) and it's been working great.

  • Thanks azdryheat for the information. My new trailer is a 2015 Voltage 3200, left over model as they don't make the 3200 any more and we like the 3200 layout and with the various upgrades from our 2011.

Question(s), how long did it take for the one you had to fail? Did you have any info as to when things should be greased? Was the failure covered under warranty or an extended warranty?

Should I ditch the current one for the Trailair minus the Tri-Glide? Did your dealer do the switch or did you do it yourself?

    Thanks again for the info.

Took about a year to fail. I got no info about the hitch when we bought the 3600 and I found nothing on the net. Hitch was still under warranty and Camping World was authorized to replace the entire hitch. I don't know if a new hitch will be authorized when the current one isn't broken, yet.
