Trailer brake lockup

What would cause trailer break to lock up? When one wheel locked up I checked the break a way, truck to trailer cable, I backed up pulled forward. Finally the break unlocked . Any ideas as why or any damage would be helpful.
  • If the rear seal leaks and grease gets on the shoes, it can cause the brakes to lockup. It sounds counterintuitive but true
  • What ever the problem, you do need to get in there and take care of it now. If not it will happen again and could get very ugly when the smoke gets to rolling.
  • Could just need a brake adjustment if brakes are to loose they lock up easier.
  • How long has it been since you serviced the brakes?
On my trailers, I did wheel bearings at least every 2 yrs when trailer just sat
Since I had hubs pulled, I checked to see that brake shoes moved freely, and put s very small smear of anti seize on the rear plate where the pads ride(4 places). Haven't had another brake seize since I started doing that
    JMHO
