"Trailer Disconnected" Message

After wrestling with this intermittent message with two different trucks, I finally decided to do something about it. Actually, I was forced to because my trailer brakes stopped working at the start of my current trip. I had all of the lights and signals, just no brakes, and no way that I pushed and twisted the plug would get it to work. When inserting or removing the 7-way, I could feel no resistance at all between the contacts, so I knew the two plugs were not a good match. I found out about Pollak plugs on another site and how a lot of the Bargman plugs used by many trailer manufacturers were incompatible with many of the current trucks. I found a plug at a RV place in Hot Springs, swapped it out and have great contact, lights, and brakes.. Life is good again. May this will help someone who has been wrestling with this problem.

May want to check the back side of the truck's receptacle. Some have small tangs that hold the truck wiring connector the seven blade connector portion.
