Transfer Flow Replacement Tank

My 2013 F350 short bed has a very small diesel fuel tank. I can only cruise about 200 miles before I need to find a place to fill up. That's a real pain when pulling a large fiver.

I'm seriously contemplating replacing the OEM tank with a Transfer Flow 50 gallon replacement tank. This will give me the range to do a full day's travel so I can unhook and then fuel up.

Do any of you have experience with the replacement tank from Transfer Flow? If so, any problems encountered? If you installed it yourself, was it difficult to do?

Note: I'm not interested in auxiliary tanks, so no need to comment on them.

  • We had the factory 26 gallon fuel tank replaced with a Titan 52 gallon tank. Probably one of the best mods we've done for RVing. We can tow for 8 hours before stopping to refuel. I would not hesitate to purchase another Titan tank in the future.

Plus, no loss of bed space, no added pumps or valves.

You will really like the added range, it's a great improvement.
  • Fred. Actually, Transfer Flow is located in Chico, CA. That's my whole goal is to be able to get in 350 miles or so a day without having to pull 58 feet of vehicle into a fuel station. I can do it, but it's pretty tight some times.
I don't know why none of the big three put such small tanks in their short bed trucks.
  • If you ever get up to Chino CA, you can probably schedule factory install. However it would take many tanks of fuel to get there. But only two tanks to get back home. . .

I was hoping to get a cab and chassis F-450 with the rear 40 gallon and then replace the mid tank with a 53 gallon forward tank to have over 900 miles towing ability, and not need to tow a fifth wheel into a gas station (almost never!)

I figure that I could park the RV and then fill up while out sightseeing. . .

    Good luck,

    Fred.
  • I have had the replacement tank from Transfer Flow on my current and past Ford F350. I let the dealer do the replacement although some do DYI could do it. Did not want to mess with taking out the factory tank with fuel in it. Well worth the cost.

I have a Titan but would recommend Transfer Flow. The tanks from them are built better. I did my own install and it was not too bad. The range with the big tank is really nice.

My buddy had a transfer flow installed professionally and then had it fall out on his first trip. Fortunately there was not fire. Installer left the straps loose.

That is exactly why I'm probably going to "do it myself". even if someone else installed it, I know I'd be underneath as soon as I got home to check everything.

  • I don't own one, but I've done a lot of research on them. Transfer flow has a stellar reputation. My only issue was that it cost a fortune to have one shipped from their plant in California to my house in Florida.
  • I have had a co-worker who replaced the fuel tank he had with a Transfer Flow model on a way older Ford F-350. It has worked remarkably well for a long time. A 50 gallon tank gives you quite a long range, and is well worth it, especially with a fiver.
