Dang, I forgot who was Weapons Officer on Star Trek 1. Was it Sulu? Unlike Shattner who detested being identified with the role. "Sulu" kept interested in his role I.D. He loved high tech stuff including future weaponry.
And then there was Scotty. His remains entered space aboard a rocket. Talk about dedication to a role!
There was at one time talk of putting a cyclotron aboard ship and zapping a target with a few trillion volts od electrons.
I would like to think that the 50lbs of manuscipts I handed over to Lawrence Livermore in some way had helped research of electromagnetic theory.
Peaceable application would be attractive
War machine application would be repulsive.
