And now we've added stinky poo:)
We do use chemicals in our tank. I probably wouldn't, but DW insists on it. Having said that, I haven't been bothered by others. I sure don't expect a dump station to smell like roses, just as I don't expect a campground's vault toilet to smell pretty either. Ever change a baby's diaper? That evokes a far greater gag reflex than any toilet, dump station or RV I've ever encountered. Seems like humanity has survived changing diapers for all these years...I think we can survive a little olfactory discomfort at an RV dump station.
