Trying to understand wiring

Hi everyone

I don't have my TT nearby as it`s in storage for the winter.
My question is the 7 pin wiring harness has one pin dedicated for 12V so I assume it`s used for the TT battery, if so does this wire/current go directly to the TT`s battery or to the converter box inside the TT and back to the TT`s battery? Feel silly asking but I like to know.

Thanks.

  • Thanks for the quick replies, it's been really helpful and answered my questions.
  • The only way to know for sure if anything is happening is with a voltmeter.
  • Your Dodge does not separate the power. It will try to charge both. Voltage drop will have some effect charging the trucks battery first and to a higher level.
The 12 volt charge line should be spliced to the battery/converter wire in the front of the TT.
  • Thanks donn0128 & sch911 that's what I thought but wasn't 100% sure.

    Another question:
So if I'm hooked up via harness to TT and the TT is plugged in to an electrical outlet who has priority charging the TT's battery is it the TV, TT's converter or both?
  • Yes, but! Don't expect this line to do any real charging of the TT battery due to the length of run, the number of connections involved, and the narrow gauge of the wiring. It's really more like a maintainer than a charge line.
