The more I look at the housing, the more it looks like I will have to though bolt it. With the bed extended out It appears that the housing also helps keep the bed level.
I guess I could paint the washers, nut and bolt, white so it would be less noticeable from outside.
Why would they fasten it this way at the manufacturer?
