If it is the run start capacitor or just start capacitor in some models, you may smell the burning rubber smell as it ties to fry itself.
Just ahuuuuummmm the fan is not running and the compressor is not running. They are both on the same shaft.
Replace the Capacitor. You'll have to take the shroud off and locate it. A small bracket usually holds it down/in place. Take the capacitor with you to a electrical or a/c supply house.
Some capacitors are labeled, made in the us ,but are exactly like the Chinese but with a phony and 10.00 more expensive label, which was the only thing available regardless of label. What the Tech that handles our home appliances etc he replaced it with a slightly higher rated capacitor. All that matters is if the capacitor has thee two spades or connections you need any others just disregard and don't let touch metal.
IF you find American made use it. The guy at the counter or someone can show or tell you what two or three spades to use.
Take your manual with you on the A/c and or read it first.
The Coleman unit is in widespread use so an exact replacement capacitor should be available.
Call Coleman. They may send you one or sell you one cheap.
Clean you ac good while you have the shroud off and snug it down or replace the big gasket if need be(you'll need help) lifting it.
While you are at it check the intake and output vents inside. Make sure then fn has not come down the shaft and is stuck in the pan.Ours was leaking a lot of cooled air back into the intake and a lot of cooled air was going just into the roof, because at the factory all they did was stick pieces of fiberglass board which the cuts are made of, in place with large gaps every where. The gaps where cooled air were going back into the intake, and a/c on low setting would cause freeze ups and it 90 degrees outside. Coleman used aluminum metal, Duct/Duck/Ducted :)or whatever tape, and fixed all that. The supply whse has all kinds of it.
After they finished it turned our Mh into a meat locker, where before it was a struggle to cool in really high heat humidity.
