As said, the coolant will not leak unless there is a physical leak in the system. Finding and repairing such a leak can be expensive. Replacing your AC system is expensive.
If there is a leak it is possible that the coolant escaped over a period of many years, and it might take years again for new coolant to escape. In the meantime your AC could resume functioning.
This is what happened to me, when I rejected an $800 inspection estimate and found a service center willing to throw $60 worth of coolant in there and then check the pressure after a day of driving around. That coolant lasted for almost three years and I had fully functioning AC.
I don't know the first thing about AC systems and there are a lot of experts here. But I can tell the difference between $60 and $800--and the blank check you would be handing someone to replace your AC.
