Uses for old Magnetek converter/charger

I am house cleaning, and have a Magnetek converter/charger that I took out of our 93 Jayco. AFAIK it's a single stage 13.6v. I don't think it's much good as an RV unit these days. Is it good for something else, such as a power supply or ??? I'd like to sell it on ebay but I think I would need to list it for some alternative usage where it might find a buyer.
  • The 6000 series requires a battery connection. The 7000 series doesn't.

I saved my 7345 unit when I replaced it with a Progressive Dynamics 3 stage unit because I thought someone might want it as a power supply for their macerator that pulls 20 amps.
I already had a linear 9 to 15 volt 20 amp supply for my macerator so haven't used the 7300 yet but don't see why it wouldn't work.

(I used the linear supply rather than running heavy gauge wires from the batteries)

    YES PLEASE
I would be happy to pay the shipping costs for that converter
Off boating and fishing right now but will log back in later this afternoon / evening
Please send me a PM to confirm

  • I still have a perfectly healthy 7345 charger section sitting in my garage. I've often thought it would be good for running a bunch of yard lights.
If anybody near me really needs it they are welcome to it (Free).
  • Seems like someone here would take it,......hijack the voltage to about 18, then zap their batteries w/ it every few days. That seems to be the goin thing nowdays.:))
  • No comment about the item itself, since you didn't ask for one...

The AC and DC distribution circuits could be useful in an off grid cabin, like a hunting cabin. Simplifies wiring when a generator is used. The DC fuses can run to independent lights and loads. With an inexpensive 12 volt power supply the power circuits could be powered with a generator, or a battery.

Use a wireless relay (with handheld remote) for up to 4 channels of lighting and load control without the need to mount switches.

    Hope This Helps
  • When I took my MagnaJunk out of my RV a few years ago, I posted it here for free for anyone who would pay the shipping. Since I wasn't selling it, they didn't remove the post as prohibited. After about a year, a list member who was happy with his MagnaJunk had it fail on him and took me up on it.

  • I sold one on Craig's List awhile back for $50. Sold it to someone who's Magnatek died and he just wanted another one to replace it.

I didn't put it on Ebay because I didn't want to pay to ship the thing.

Anyone that needs a garden variety battery charger will probably just get one cheaper at Walmart.
  • It depends on what Model # and how much current it can supply
