I got out with my Harbor Freight peak hold ammeter yesterday and took some reading on my TT. The AC unit is an RVP (RV Products) 8000 series. I left the converter running. I got the following readings (all are approx):
Low fan: 3 amps
High fan: 4 amps
Peak reading starting AC for the first time: 18 amps
Low cool: 11 amps
High cool: 14 amps
Peak reading restarting the AC after turning off or a minute: 39 amps
My takeaway is that if I can't find a reasonably priced dealer who will let me try it out, I may just order the EF2400iSHC. Obviously, it's not going to start the AC immediately after having run it for a while, but it's not the end of the world to me if I have to go an hour or two with no AC.
If I go that route and it won't start, then I guess I'd start looking at the link MEXICOWANDERER posted!
