Just a thought about car detailing: Many times I've found that a vacuum can't do a really good job of getting all of the bits out of a carpet. The tool I've found most helpful is a whisk broom with stiff bristles. Combined with a vacuum, I can make a car interior almost spotless.
Another trick is to mix fabric dye to the color of the carpet and spray a light coat on the carpet. Unfortunately, most automotive rugs are color fast synthetic yarn and the dye doesn't penetrate the fibers so much as coat it.
