LP’s are actually making a comeback as the sound quality is much better than CD’s or other digital format.
To some ears, maybe, but there could be a bit of nostalgia hype in that too.
My musician ears don't tell me one is 'better' than the other, but just different. I can more easily hear the individual instruments in digital (important to me) which was a real challenge on vinyl because vinyl tends to be muddy. Perhaps some people don't like that clarity, which can be described as 'sterile' or 'not warm.'
I think it comes down to a matter of personal taste, just like the music itself.

You obviously have never owned decent quality turntable with top notch cartridge/stylus coupled with a good quality preamp for said cartridge..
Playing vinyl on a "Barbie" superstar plastic carry along player just doesn't cut it for quality, something like Thorens makes a huge difference in sound quality.
Yeah, I have played with some top notch turntables, that Thorens ran at about 1/4 gram max stylus weight and was so quiet that you could not only hear the rumble cut in the grooves but see it also on the VU meters.
Its all about the quality foundation to start with..
Then there is the mastering, often the "remastered" releases of old vinyl albums on CDs are horribly butchered, often sounding bland with no life after all of the compression and loss of information (you do realize that the process of digitizing DOES throw out important sound information which analog does not?)..
Every once and a while I do like spinning up a few favorite cuts.
