Vinyl trim cleaning/shining

I just used Meguiars One Step Compound Cleaner-Polish on my 9 year old 5er; the fiberglass looks better than new.

The vinyl trim though is starting to look really ratty. Looks like someone tried to sand it. Is there any good product to clean and shine it up again??

Thanks,
Doug
  • That vinyl tape that covers the screws in the edge moulding is replaceable. It can be cleaned with SOC pads or whatever, but every Winter here it gets black/grey spots of mould and is a real chore to get it back to white every Spring.

A guy at our campground now has a Nash 5er, which has black vinyl tape in his edges instead of white! It looks pretty good. I bet he does not have to do all that work every Spring. I am thinking of getting that black stuff.
  • Well, here is one more try. I use 303 aerospace protectant on my graphics. It gives mine a deep rich shine, makes a noticeable difference, but mine were not bad to start with.

It does claim to RESTORE & maintain a like-new appearance, texture, and color.

Easy to use, may be worth a try.

  • Jerry,

I'm actually looking to restore the vinyl graphics on the trailer.

I was looking for a magical cleaner/restorer that I could just wipe on and everything would look like new. The fiberglass looks just like it just came out of the factory (if not better); the raggedy vinyl graphics makes it look old (kinda like me).

I did look in a catalogue from a local RV shop, and new graphics are certainly not expensive. I just dread having to remove all the old. I've read a number of posts here about removing graphics, and it doesn't sound like a fun job.

Looks like that's gonna be the next job though.

    Thanks,
    Doug
  • Doug, if you are talking about the replaceable vinyl trim around the coach edges, I would do just that (replace it). I replaced it on my previous FW. It is easy to do, and not very expensive either.

Glad the fiberglass cleaned up nicely. It is a good feeling having a unit a few years old, that looks new.

    Happy camping,
    Jerry
