My $16,000 SOLA ferroresonant charger with separate isolation transformer is as big as a sea chest, weighs close to 200 lbs, and eats 90 watts just sitting there. 3 Kw rated. -40% to +40% line voltage correction. And 30 db noise isolation.
The point is "Miracle Grade Voltage Correction and spike isolation" Costs a fortune, is huge and heavy and is not RV practical. Worthwhile transient line voltage protection is possible but it takes a SYSTEM of TVS components, MOV components, and Gas Discharge Tube components to reach an intelligent level of protection.
Autoformers are N-O-T isolation transformers. OK? They do absolutely 0.00000 to eliminate line noise and transient voltage spiking. It is chicanery to install a few MOVs in a voltage correction autoformers and gloat about complete protection. MOVs wear out. To extend life, a lot more MOVS must be installed along with a platoon of TVS transient voltage protection devices. "Miracle autoformer" companies SHOULD MAKE A TRANSIENT VOLTAGE NETWORK, a replaceable module. Don't hold your breath...
