Clean power entry means longer MOV life. Want unclean electro-hazard power north of the border? Visit an RV park with a couple of dozen roof airs cycling off-and-on.
I am building 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" PCB spike suppressors. GDT, MOV and TVS discrete devices. SIX MOVS, four TVS and 2 GDT per board. 1.5 Kw isolation transformers do poorly packed into luggage.
But I am coming home with the last components of the 12 vdc protection circuits. 47 uf electrolytic, 4, 17 vdc TVS, 16 volt MOVs, and a MR 2535 avalanche rectifier.
I was being a true hypocrite discussing this stuff without having an inventory.
