Wall Thermostat for Electric Heater Install? Relook?

We have this little fake electric stove with ceramic heater mounted on the bottom. I seem to never get the heat dial set to my liking. So i got an idea (that is dangerous) about wiring in a battery...

Starting to feel like I am going in circles here.

I been spending time looking at the specs on the digital in line thermostats on ebay and amazon. Seems to me that I can't come up with an affordable one that has s high enough capacity for the 120V heater.

What do you folks think. Maybe I am not savvy enough on this capacity issue.
