Hi,
I'm quite calm about all of this. Happy I still have a home.
I think this may be what happened. The charger was working at about 60% of full capacity.
The cooling fan was running.
When I shut down the power, of course the fan being 120 volts, shut down too. So what ever was hot inside decided that "enough was enough" and released the magic blue smoke.
