Water damage repair

Hi all,
I'm going to help my son with a repair project on his TT. The front on the trailer has a full width closet. There was a leak that I have to find but I will need to replace the rotted wood and moldy insulation. The wood is a panel that has a slight curve to it and the total area I need to cover is somewhere around 8x6. My question is what material do I use to replace the wood panel? It would need to be able to shape to the slight curve of the trailer front end. It looks like just a sheet of thin plywood possibly luan? Thanks

  • Check if there are outside lights on the front - we had problems with a back closet and the water coming in by the lights with caulking that had worn.
  • Luan does seem like a good choice. I used it to make a floor for my inflatable boat. To help in case it gets damp or wet I used a polyeurothane sealer. It is holding up well.
  • I think luan would be my choice -used it to replace water damaged veneer/wood on Class C overhead bed - easy to use, not expensive, and looks goods.
