It shouldn't be a problem. If it was dripping and you stopped the drip, it may have just been dirt or corrosion on the seal.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If it makes you feel better, get the new valve and take it with you. Then if it is a problem you have the replacement.
Mine dripped a couple years ago. I just opened the valve (after bleeding the pressure) and closed it after running a little water out of the valve. No problem since clearing the valve.
