Water Heater - On my last nerve

I have search the forum and am coming up empty.

Like some others my water heater works fine on gas. But only get luke warm water on electric (sourced from the relief valve). The model is a 6 gal suburban SW6DEL.

1) I have verfied my water bypass is in the off position.
2) The breaker is not tripped.
3)I have replaced the tstat and element.
4) I have verified that the tstat connections are sound and grounded against the frame.
6) I am getting 120v at the element but only intermitantly.

Any ideas what I am missing?
I am losing hope.

I'm trying to find differences between SW6DEL and the SW6DE that we have. Ours has a switch on the wall in the RV and a switch on the heater itself. It also has a dedicated breaker in the power center.
From all I've read here, your problem is in wiring/switches/breakers supplying the heater.
Also, we had a recent case where the splice between the flexible shore tie cable and the coach's solid wiring had failed. That, of course, would affect the entire coach...

loose connection in the junction box on the hwh

    X2

120V AC junction box on right side (looking at water heater from backside of water heater---inside rv)

    (12V DC is on left)

Check for loose wiring in junction box and also check that he wire on AC circuit breaker is tight
  • I had a similar problem only it worked on electric and not gas. Mine is a suburban also and the tech took off the black rubber cover and wiggled the connector and it fired right off. He said the WH have this little problem and is so easy to fix.
  • Check connections and breaker in your power distribution panel.
    Art.
