Your gas control is leaking thru.
The brass screw in is the main orifice......changing it will not solve your problem.
You need to replace the gas control assembly.
You probably have a Robertshaw 'Unitrol'

You may have to redo inlet connection if your current one has the inverter flare inlet(no longer available)
