I considered that, but when we got to AZ, it was hotter than it was in TX. Of course, now it's freezing out here, so it's hard to tell. I did notice that due to the mineral heavy water of the town we were at in TX, the water heater is all corroded. It's still under warranty, at least.

You stated you have only been using the electric.
Hard water...electric element is scaled up/can't transfer the heat to water
Remove drain plug/anode rod.....flush and clean inside of tank
Look thru drain hole at element.....if really scaled up you may need to remove to clean
(Warranty will not cover ROUTINE Maintenance---which this is)
