what would be the max for the water pressure on a 1993 motorhome?

My 2007 Winnebago manual said 40psi. I bought a spare pump that only did 50psi so I contacted Winnebago to ask if that was OK. They responded that was OK, but stay with 40psi on shore water. They talked about pressure spikes when other folks turned off water flow. It isn't an issue for me as 40psi supplies plenty of water for my needs.
