Maybe I misread the OP ... The problem only occurs on shore power with the pos cable removed from batt. Why would you want to disconnect batt?
Leave shutoff switch on and batt connected. Doesn't seem to be an issue unless you force the conditions.
I guess you are maybe just suggesting that you believe your converter is getting weak. Maybe so. if you have cash replace I guess, but I bet it lasts a long time in its weakened state.
