weepy, dirty HWH jack connections

On my HWH hydraulic jacks that control my 4 jacks and two slid outs, the connections at the pump and the rear slide out jack get filthy from weeping oil and dripping.
I want to get under and tighten all the fittings, but what can I expect?
I have never ventured into this part of my motorhome repair before.

  • that depends on the year and manufacturer. they make the decision where to put the pump. mine is a 2005 36 ft itasca meridian, and the pump is under the step. on my 2002 39 ft chieftain, it was under the front of the slide out like you described.

Have you checked to see if you can access the back end of the pump from under the entryway steps? I can get at most components of the HWH pump, motor and solenoids from there. However, I did have to get under the coach to change a pump motor solenoid.

They must have changed location of the pump from 2002 -2007.
Mine is accessible by lifting the storage bay door on the front slide out. Everything is pretty much in front of you.
