Thanks for the quick replies.
Describing the problem: it is the well known problem of the fan running almost constantly with little load. And after a couple of days it sounds like it's revving up and down at low load. I may have mistakenly said it's a thermostat problem as now that I think of it the fan activation is based on converter DC load, correct.
I know these machines are the bottom of the barrel for converters, but a couple hundred dollars in the USA for a good PD set is over $350 here in Canada.
I like the 120v fan idea. I will be looking into that. In the mean time, if anybody has any ideas about what electronic component replacement part may be helpful I'd appreciate it.
