What is that screen like inside the port of the black tank flush? Is that a water regulator? I see that also in the city water connection of the RV

On the city water line it keeps minor junk from messing up the diaphragms in the 12V water pump. You should also have a filter on the pump inlet.
And the screens keep board little kids from stuffing rocks or who knows what into whatever holes they can find.
