And I am stuck with rote chemistry. My figures haven't changed in what - 10 years on this forum and 35 years overall. Chemistry like electricity is a discipline not a Madison Avenue playtoy.

BUlk voltage is a screwy term, as during bulk, voltage eventually rises to absorption voltage. Technically bulk should end at absorption voltage.

IMO, 'bulk' should refer to initial amps applied to depleted battery

Trojan has been saying 14.8 absorption for a long time no?

I thought the 16.2 from 15.5 rise and 13.2 float to 13.5 was a more recent change.

I remember seeing rolls surrette user manual saying 16.2 fo EQ, and then seeing that trojan bumped their EQ voltage to this too, within the last 14 months or so.

Rolls and Surrette has a fine PDF manual to download. It applies to Trojan 101% and the Space Cadet academy in Corona and to LTH and Johnson Controls 5% antimony batteries. Deviate from that charging protocol at your battery's risk. Try reconciling a correct charging protocol with "smart" converter's profiles.

The idiot who proclaimed bulk charging as being a stage hoped and prayed it would be taken as a charger controlled event. Two stage, three stage, twenty ninth stage. A charger takes x time to arrive at voltage limit. Factor 2 is how much time is spent at voltage limit before defaulting to float. I am one of the few who achieve instantaneous voltage limit because my chargers have capacity to do so.

OMG this is terrifying. I thought Trojan wanted 14-4-14.8 all along. What to do. I need to buy all new batteries now?

Nobody's advocating new batteries, but these are major changes to a battery spec. that as Mex points out, who's chemistry hasn't changed.

If you don't mind my asking? How do you know the chemistry has not changed?

I have only seen the higher voltages listed for Trojan- I thought I had some old documents from Trojan that gave those values, but all I could find is an old post- 2009- of mine citing 14.8 volts at 80 degrees-

I have been trying to find a listed number for over all initial DC CURRENT DEMAND when first hit with Bulk charge of 14.4VDC in my planning case...

I know from my previous readings of 53-54 AMPS DC current for my three 85AH 12V Interstates comes out to around 17-18 DC Current per paralleled 12VDC batteries.

What are the two groups of 6VDC Trojan T-105 in series going to demand when charged in parallel...

I am thinking since two 6VDC batteries make a 12V battery then the old rule of 17-20AMPS DC current (35-40AMPS TOTAL) is what I am going to see. I can deal with that with the two chargers I have...

My PD9260C main charger is rated at 60AMPs DC capacity and my portable VEC1093DBD is at 40 AMPs...

Been asking around if someone has measured what the total AMPs demand is going to be but not having much luck haha... Hoping I don't have to purchase a 80A charger to replace my PD9260C on-board converter/charger unit. Of course this would get me the 14.8VDC mod Best Converters is doing to the PD9260C modified unit..

I am aware that I should be using 14.8VDC as bulk charge but see that many folks have been using the 14.4VDC and perhaps this just makes it take alittle longer to get to float mode...

Where we usually camp off grid has generator run time restrictions which is usually a couple hours in the morning and maybe three hours in the late afternoon time periods. I usually get away with running my generator for three hours in the morning starting at 8AM each morning to get from the 50% charge state to the 90% charge state so I can do it all over again running off the batteries...

For my new battery bank project planning I started this season I need to know what the T-105s is going to draw from my chargers when first hit with 14.4VDC Bulk Charge mode. If the two 6V batteries in series is being called a two part 12VDC battery I am hoping the answer is going to be 17-20AMPS DC current for the two 6VDC batteries wired in series for the first 15-20 minutes before starting to taper back... I havent purchased my TroJAN or CostCo GC2 batteries yet to make the measurements for myself... Did recently find a local golf cart dealer here in my area that can get them for me. He also says he usually has a bunch of T105s his customers give him to cover the core costs. Seems like the high $$$ guys that own golf carts like to get a new set of batteries each year according to the him... This is really only important to me to get from 50% charge state to 90% charge in a quick three hour 2KW generator run time period.

Handy Bob in his blog has for several years said that Trojan spec'd 14.8. I have to think that 13.8 was a misprint in last year's pdf you grabbed. It doesn't make sense.
