"What If...?"

This is a Daydreaming Special.

Totally bucks up. Money is of no importance...

Design your own RV from the tires upward.

For me, a start would be...

  • A titanium frame for vastly increased strength and minimum weight
  • Carbon fiber skin for strength
  • Vacuum panel insulation
  • High R value windows
  • Kevlar or Spectra awning. Large disc brakes
  • Lithium batteries and a roof jammed with solar panels...

Your turn..............:)

I live in the REAL world, so I have been think about this very topic, on and off, for many months.

    • An aluminum frame (2x4 or 2x6 x 0.187) 24" O.C.; same size tubing for cross bracing every 4'
    • The roof has to be fiberglass or aluminum over PVC sheathing. I must have a 2" overhang on each so thath the jouint between the toof and the walls is UNDER this over hang
    • PVC floor glued to 2" rigid foam, glued to the aluminum frame; additional cross bracing under the foam every 2'
    • Fiberglass exterior walls directly over 2x2 aluminum frame with 2" rigid foam insulation
    • Thermal pane windows
    • Lithium batteries and a roof jammed with solar panels...

You might convince me to use marine grade plywood in place of the PVC, but only if it was real BS1088 hardwood plywood which probably costs more than the PVC.

or if you want exotic then go with magnesium.

God help you if you ever had a short that arced to the frame/structure. You'd never get the fire put out in time. And if you used water to try to put it out, the corrosion would finish the job the fire started.
  • I want something that be jacked up at the push of a button to cross swayles and gullies like in front of gas stations.

"We need to knowledge lightning so we can daydream about fire?"
  • Well I'd like something that could move off road, probably a Class C. But I don't have to dream since they are already available at $250,000 and up.

BTW if you look into titanium fabrication you may find that it isn't your dream material. Aluminum would work at a tiny fraction of the cost, or if you want exotic then go with magnesium.

    That's right.......

I don't daydream about being turned loose in the J.C Penney men's department or dining at Appleby's. Or hitting the jackpot on a nickel machine.

    It stirs the imagination...

  • Daydream? Shucks, that's easy. I want a Tardis. Instead of the outside looking like a British Police Box, I'd have it look like a VW Camper Van. Travel instantly to Iceland, Australia, everywhere I want to go. And inside, there'd be room for a hot tub, pool table, gourmet kitchen, servant's quarters, and everything else I don't want to do without.:)

If you insist I have to be realistic, then just get me one of those Earth Roamers.
