- Wild_CardExplorerI have had no issue removing old silicone that has lost its adhesion, clean surface with alcohol and applying Geocell. I have done this on quite a few older rigs and even my new Triton I am currently repairing some seals that were done with Silicone. Once the Geocell sets up its not comming off.

While I use Dicor, my answer is ANYTHING WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SILICONE! Yes, I meant to shout. Never use Silicone on your RV. Ever.
Why??
Once something is contaminated with silicone, nothing will ever stick again. Not even new silicone will stick to old silicone.
BINGO! When I work on the RV, I always assume that I will have to re-do or patch it another time, in the future. Nothing sticks to silicone, even more silicone. If you used silicone you will spend hours with different solvents trying to remove every last vestige of the old silicone, and still probably won't get it all. I always look to the future and try to make it easier on myself, if I can. - pauldubExplorer

I know their tape is very well regarded in the RV world. - TechWriterExplorerMy prefs . . .
3M 5200 Fast Cure for adhesive strength, and for long EternaBond runs, I use EternaCaulk along both sides of the tape. Totally prevents tape from coming up. - 3_tonsExplorer III

I use DAP Adhesive Caulk and have for over 10 years. There are 3 versions DAP makes. 1. Comes out white(so you can make sure you have filled the area gap) and dries crystal clear. SO CLEAR, that I have had customers complain I did NOT seal the areas I sealed and I had to poke it with a pen to show them it is sealed. 2. CLEAR 3. WHITE.
This is an ADHESIVE CAULK and will adhere to almost anything except a EPDM/TPO roof which you would not use this product on the roof anyway. I use it to bond wood panels inside the RV and other things that need a ADHESIVE. It bonds to the Plastic/fiberglass shower walls and will bond to Glass. I have not used Silicone sealant since I found this DAP product. Doug
PS, It does NOT flow like silicone, it is smoother and not as lumpy as silicone.

I'm with Doug on this one. I also use DAP on anything but EPDM.
For EPDM I like Sikaflex 221. Never had it crack.
Richard - SpridleExplorerI like Sikaflex 1a as my favorite no-sag calk.

Depends on the job you are doing and if you need to easily remove hardware later, etc.
Nothing wrong with silicone for glazing purposes.
Usually use 3m products in general.
I agree. Silicone has it's place even in the RV world. I use Sikaflex products myself.
That's some quality stuff. I use that in the marine world.
