What is normal parasitic DC amp draw?

My new 5th wheel is drawing 1.5 amps with all the lights, appliances, and switches off and AC main breaker off. Is this normal?

"Thanks Bigfoot. I thought it was high as well. I'll look around. All I know of are the detectors and a Tire Minder booster which is wired into the lighting circuit.

Regarding addition power sources. I don't understand the design of the electrical system of a trailer. Every load in a house goes through the electrical panel. What's the point in a breaker box if you're going to bypass it? "

Well 2 different systems... the 120vac system is like a house and wired as such...

But the 12vdc system is like a car/truck in a way....

    Battery has a fuse link

    Fuse panel under the hood

    Fuse panel under the dash
And there may be fuses else where....

You are so right. Got to thinking about it and the vehicles came to mind. Thus my deleting the comment minutes later.
  • Yall are awesome! I did what some of yall suggested. Found out the tv antenna was drawing .2...

Then i pulled the fuses and found the culprits. Below are the amp draws at the battery with each individual fuse pulled.

    Radio/lp det 1.2 amp
    Fridge 0.4 amp
    Rear 1.6 amp
    Center pump 1.5 amp
    Front 1.6 amp

I pulled both the lp detector/radio fuse and the fridge fuse and amp draw went to 0.1

Looks like radio/lp detector pulls 0.3-0.4 by itself
Fridge drawing 0.8 by itself... Then I found out the fridge light was stuck on !!!! Pulled the bulb and total amp draw went down to 0.7. I turned on the lp for the fridge and it went to 1.1 amps

I pulled the radio out and pulled the internal fuse for the led and presets which was only worth .1

So now that I am down to 0.7/0.8 with everything off but lp detector, I am much happier!

Gracias to all who replied!!! I will be investigating solar power and generators next! :D
  • And that's why you do an electrical power audit, because all those little electrical suckers add up fast.
  • I thought all appliances were off. Does the fridge light work even when the fridge is switched off? Don't forget about the anti-condensation heater on the door seal. I disconnected mine to ensure it doesn't get switched on accidentally.

Not suppose to... You can test it if it has a lever to turn on/off the light. Think all Dometic's have the lever.

Yep, that anti-condensation heater can eat that battery.

  • YA KOW YA GOT A PROBLEM WHEN YOU POP THE BATTERY HATCH AND FIND -THIS- ATTACHED TO YOUR BATTERY
