Mex they were in parallel today and I did that and the amps tapered steadily after reaching Vabs of 14.8 (battery spec) down to 2.0 and stalled there as described above.
I wanted to see 1.0 but now you say anywhere from 0.5 to 1.0 each is ok??? I was at 1.0 each. But then I tried to find that wall and one battery got warmer as amps went up and did not taper. Overheating.
So there is something not right with one of those batteries, which I will check out tomorrow. The other battery still connected, after I turned the voltage back down to 14.8 from 15.4, showed amps in the minus 0.7 amps area. That means the voltage of the battery was falling slowly and eventually the amps will go positive to keep it at 14.8 (I think!--seen that before sort of)
EDIT--that -00.7 --some of that might be the Trimetric display itself. I have not "zeroed" for that.
While at it, and looking at that -00.7, I jacked converter voltage back to 15.4 and battery voltage instantly went to 15.4 too, and amps stayed at -00.7 like nothing happened. Too weird. Back to 14.8 no amps change. I think that might be the "wall"??
So that one batt is still connected but is now converter set to 13.6 for overnight. I will look at it all some more tomorrow. The warm 100 is disconnected and reading about 13.14 last check (full is 13.0 ish) It is still a bit warm.
At least all this 20% stuff has caused me to find whatever this is with that one battery that got warm. I never would have noticed that otherwise.
