I have a 2017 Grand Design 27RL 5th wheel. I contacted a local service center to inquire about getting my wheel bearings packed. I was quoted $490 for this service.
I had another place that has since closed that used to take care of my old 5th wheel and I never had to pay anything close to that. Now that he has retired I am forced to find another place to deal with.
What should I expect to pay for this service?
Thanks!
Dave
Yeah, that is pretty darn expensive.
I see you are in PA, you do not have to take your trailer to a RV dealer for your PA Inspection.
Most PA Inspection stations/Mechanics can inspect your trailer, they may also offer to clean and repack your bearings at a better price while they are inspecting your trailer if you ask about it..
Call around to some of your local PA State Inspection stations and ask if they can inspect Travel Trailers.. Then ask what they would charge to service/grease your trailers bearings.
Or, learn to do it yourself, not all that hard but takes some time and is messy.. Takes me about 15 minutes per drum or about an hr for two axle trailer.. Wished I was making $490 per hr..
