The "low ash" is to prevent deposits that cause detonation. There is -nothing- as bad for an LPG engine as detonation. Ever pull an engine down where the piston rings were squeezed so tight a hammer could not drive a top ring from one side to the other? Some engines are more sensitive than others. Air-cooled aircraft engines are the same way. When I was performing PMA aircraft electrical a maintenance company had to purchase a new Lycoming engine for an owner who proved they hadn't used low ash oil. The engine I went through, was a 37.5 HP V4 air-cooled Wisconsin hooked to a 14Kw generator. That was the last engine I ever rebuilt. The owners were more than happy to switch to Aeroshell 60 after paying more than four thousand dollars in parts. Instantaneous lockup isn't especially recommended for a generator rotor, it was a mess...
