There is basically no reason to ever turn the converter off less you hook an inverter to the house batteries and plug into it.. IF You do that you also want your Fridge on GAS.
Or if you want to run the A/C from a generator that barely has enough power to run it. In that case too you'd want the fridge on gas. Simply put if you're trying to use a minimal amount of AC power, the fridge and the converter are the first to go.
