With a new vehicle I would not chop power. At least not until I satisfied myself that the ECU would present a fault code that can only be reset at a dealership for around a hundred dollars.
The ECU has to "re-learn" after being disconnected. Volatile memory is erased. The learning process has be a pain in the ass. Stalling, rough running and fuel mileage like a caterpillar bulldozer until the CPU is satisfied and switches out of open-loop mode.
