"Wheeeeeeee Absurd"

Folks are complaining about led street lights. The Kelvin number is too white.

So which do you think it is - It doesn't really put out anywhere near 1,440 watts which would be 120 amps, or they're supply a worthless relay and wiring harness?

Pretty sure that wattage is off by a decimal.

Mex, Without specs or a link hard to tell what you posted.

I'd guess 1440W incandescent equivalent or about 200W LED power consumption.

Plus it's likely at 30V so 3-4A at 12V, and yes about half the light at 12V.

Nope. I know the company and at 13.5 volts my 42" bar rated 300 watts pulls 22 amperes. The idiot male nurse at the local clinic insisted on a 52" 500 watt bar. He sneered at the necessity of a large relay and sure enough the 40-amp burned up. One 80 amp Tyco relay and switch to 10 gauge wire he is a happy camper. Er, nurse.

This bar IS going to pull close to 100 amperes. My puny 300 watt bar lights cattle up at 500' distance. Even the Darwin grade asphalt tinted ones.

The Chinese are either the most clever retailers on the market or the dumbest. Haven't figured out which yet.

Love it. Have to dim this bar at one mile for oncoming traffic. Bar too bright, driver too dim.

I found three vendors on ebay with the same lightbar as Mex posted. All of them include the light duty wiring harness and 40A relay. I sent all of them the following product question:

I need help please. The lightbar is rated at 1,440 watts which converts to a 120 amp power draw but it shows the kit coming with only a 40 amp relay and very small wiring? How does this work? The best I can figure is either the light really isn't 1,440 watts drawing 120 amps or the supplied wiring and relay is totally inadequate. I'd like to order one, but something isn't correct.

So the best I can tell is the lightbar has a theoretical 1,440W output, but doesn't come anyplace close to that.

I sent another message to them asking: OK, thanks for the reply. If I have problems with the wiring harness or relay burning up will you replace them?

I'll be the others answer about the same. I recently bought a 700W lightbar that I'll hook up soon using my own wiring and large relay. I'm waiting to up my clamp on meter to see what the amp draw is.

I bought some smaller CREE flood lights and found that their ratings were based on 30V. So the amp draw and watts on the 1440W might be closer to 1440*12/30, still substantial. It will be interesting to see what you measure.
