Wheel chair batterys

My brother who passed away had a big wheel chair with 2 12 volt batterys. They are heavy, 5 1/2 " x 8 ". Can they be used in a TT?
They are 12 volt stamped on the side etc. I thought they were 6 volt.

  • Yes, and if they are AGM they are good to use in a TT. I have a gang of three small 12v AGM batteries 28AH, 28AH, and 46AH. They seem to be doing a good job. Before I went to a lot of work making them usable, I'd check to see when they were made. Batteries do have a limited lifespan.
  • Most likley very low Amp Hour batteries but should be deep cycle style. They may last you for a few years but probably will become discharged quite quickly. If you camp in electric sites most of the time they may be very good (since all the batteries do is run lights for a few minutes while loading up and be available for emergency break away system in case of a disconnect).
  • Any idea what the actual weight is. And you are missing one dimension. 5 1/2 X 8 X ? Depending on height, that seems like pretty small batteries.

How many caps on each batter? 3=6 volt, 6=12. No caps = AGM or Gel cell.

Is there a model number or any other number or manufacturer name?

More info = more useful help.
  • Sure you could. But the available power would probably be limited
