Buy DOT simulators where the lugs hold them on. They make them now where only 4 lug nuts are used, or you can modify the older 8 hole style. Mine are off because I can't check my pressures without slicing my wrist as the simulator holes are smaller than the wheel holes. In your case I would worry about a sharp edge cutting the valve stem.
