When filling with water, most of it dumps out the side.

Take a stiff wire with a rounded end and push it down your vent, turning if necessary to get it to go to the tank. Next put that dirty hose into the fill (Helps to build up your amunities :w) and try and seal it so you can build pressure and hopefully blow your vent clean.
