Which 50 amp surge protector

Which 50 amp surge protector? I am looking for a hard wired.
  • shop http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/ We did this spring and their price for the 50A plug in model was WAY less than at the FMCA rally last month. and it arrived in less than a week.
  • MY rig has the Progressive unit. If I ever upgrade the MH, the new one will also have Progressive.

(I actually installed my 30 amp hard wired system using 30 amp twist lock plug/sockets. If the new rig is 30 amp, I can take it with me! The reason I installed it with plug/sockets is, the work area there is VERY tight. I could do all of the wiring ahead of time, set it in place, and plug it in.)

  • Wow, it's rare you get such unanimous support for a product on here...but nobody says why it's so great...just that it IS!

Just to stir the pot, I had a SurgeGuard 50A hardwired on my last rig for a decade or so and it seemed to do it's job....rejected bad wiring on a few occasions, shut down in low-voltage situations on more than a few occasions. Not sure it ever encountered a 'surge" so can't comment on that.

All this to say, there may be other options out there.

DITTO on Progressive Dynamics. Good company, Good rep, Good products, though like everyone they occasionally turn out a lemon, they usually make good on it. And one of the best things about PDI is this:

    Progressive Dynamics, Inc.
    507 Industrial Road
    Marshall, MI 49068 USA

    Yup, made in the USA

    Uh, wrong company.

Progressive Dynamics makes power centers and converters.

Progressive Industries makes the EMS system we are discussing.

  • Progressive Industries 50 Amp Hard Wired EMS with Remote Display.

Put a progressive in ours - The campground we stayed at during the 4th holiday period had voltage below 104 volts many times. The progressive unit did its job without any issues.
