Which putty to use in an air conditioner?

I am overhauling one of my air conditioners. The manufacturer used a blue putty or clay-type substance to seal some of the passages in the sheet metal. I am hoping that somebody can tell me what this stuff is and where I can get it, or just in general what I should use for this purpose. Thanks for your help.
