White Streaks from Fridge

A buddy just emailed me pictures of white streaks on the side of his trailer (from when he was driving) that are coming from the refrigerator area. They look like chalky mineral deposits like you'd see from a failed window seal or leaching out of concrete. His trailer is a typical Keystone Cougar with a Dometic gas/electric fridge. He says it seems to be working okay and no ammonia smell. Only about 2 years old. Any ideas?

  • On a previous coach, the tech left the drain tube fro the fridge out of the evaporator cup and it would run out of the opening in the wall and down the side. Thank goodness it was sealed well and water was not running into the wall.
  • The water itself may not causing the coloration. It is the contents of the compartment. Paint and other debris causes color.
  • Even if stuck through the cover as it should, the water coming from it could end up streaking the side of the RV while going down the road.
  • Check the refer drain. Some are left inside the outside access, then leak inside the compartment rather then dripping outside.
