You always have some interesting thing going on!
Laughing, I figure'd someone would get around to asking me why I was in such a search for the "ultra" grease. One of the main reasons I'm looking for such a strong, super tacky, "No squeeze out"(maybe not possible) grease is for the door stablizer on our coach.
Winnebago and Itasca owners of my coaches time frame/year/model, MIGHT know what I'm speaking of. Winne and Itasca in there infanite wisdom, designed one of the dumbest entry door limiters on the planet. The door itself weighs about 100 lbs or so. There is no gas strut or limiting brace of any type other than, what they installed.
It's simply a small brace, that pivots on the door jamb and, as you open and close the door, the brace (if one want's to call it that), travels inside the door to a resting point. As you open and close the door, there are two, rather strong compression springs that push on friction blocks, that ride on the top and bottom of that brace. The brace itself is thin for about 3/4 of its length. Then it is split, and opens up for a short distance.
Then it closes back up for a remaining inch or so and there is a stop at that point, supposedly to keep the door from opening past it's normal travel. Yeah sure.
Anyway, as those friction blocks travel up and over the split (wide point) part, they SLAP back to the skinny part, making a rather loud SNAP as they do.
I have lubed that with grease, at least a half dozen times with any and all greases I've had. When that system is freshly greased, there is NO SNAP, and no noise at all. But, in short order, any and all greases I've used, have simply and quickly, been squeezed out and, the mechanism gets loud again. It's a very, very poor design at best.
Other coach manufacturers use some form of an "elbow" brace or, gas strut that takes a much stronger purchase on both the door jamb and the door itself. And their doors, when fully open, DON'T go farther than 90 degrees, PERIOD!
So, until I come up with some form of a "Rube Goldberg" or, "MacGuyver" addendum or alteration to my door, I just want the worlds toughest grease to ease those components while the door opens and closes. I have other needs for such a grease in my ventures but, that one is the priority for now.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your help, suggestions, experience and thoughts on this. And wa8yxm, I did read your response elsewhere and it's greatly appreciated. I asked this on two different forums because I was pretty sure that there would be folks with different experience and thoughts on both. There's tons of expertise on these forums, for sure. I will look into many of the links and suggestions. Always looking to learn. (even at this age with limited active brain cells)
