Got it. However, to repeat, my PWM Solar30 only claims to be able to do 30 amps and has no panel wattage mentioned. It is up to you to not go over the 30 amps and the 48v Voc using whatever panel wattage you choose.
That is the real problem IMO. Not everybody knows my handy dandy formula using 130w = 8.2 amps :) So how is a newbie supposed to know how many amps he is going to get from X wattage of panels? Even on this forum you have people using Imp instead of Isc with PWM as their expected amps.
So when they do put a panel wattage limit there, at least that gives the newbie something to go by and he will have some margin for when the panel does better than rated at times.
Sunforce sells little controllers rated at 7.5amps/105w eg. a 105w panel will do about 6.6 amps Isc at STC. So that gives you an amp of margin there for when you get more than 6.6 amps at times.
If you did run that controller with a higher panel than 105w, it will do it with higher amps, but it will get hot and eventually fail.
Maybe they should specify the "continuous amps" like PT says like a Honda "3000" can only do 2700 in fact.
