I have a 1,500 watt inverter - MSW, and my microwave does not like the power it puts out. I have never heard of a pure sine wave inverter for less than $1,000 that is rated over 1,000 watts. So I suspect it is a "Pure Modified Sine Wave" inverter- and that can damage most microwaves, except the most basic ones.
And when I did run my microwave on the MSW, I had to replace the microwave because it never cooked quickly again. Now I only run my microwave on the generator, or shore power.
The microwave caused the inverter to draw 150 amps from my 4 golf cart batteries, and quickly depleted the voltage. So that required running the generator anyway to recharge the battery.
My suggestion is find a easier way to heat food while dry camping than using the microwave. Second pick is to run a small generator (Honda 2,000 watt should power one).
I don't know what size wire was installed, or how long it is, but a minimum #00 wire with less than fewfeet long is always better than a long wire run.
That said, I have a 15' long run of #000 wire to my inverter, and it works due to the really large wire size.
900 watt output is going to take around 1,400 watts input, or up to 12.5 amps.
Fred.
My inverter is a pure sine.
