He clearly said he doesn't know what the beeping was for, and I think its important to know what turned off. The micro, or the inverter.
Trying another high wattage device will eliminate the micro as a possible issue, as I stated before.
Over a 2ft run, going to a larger wire will absolutely not solve a voltage drop problem.
If in fact the voltage drop is the issue, then he needs to run two 12v batteries in parallel, not two 6v in series.
